Unfortunately, for various safety reasons, in consultation with all those involved, we have had to make the decision to go online again this year. This means that students from all the above-mentioned conservatoriums will attend the Focus Day from their own building.

Newsletter

Dear friends and interested parties,

We were so optimistic in our November 2021 newsletter, but unfortunately, the uncertain times are not over yet.
We had hoped to invite you, after the press conference on January 25, to attend the Jan Pustjens Focus Day live on February 6 in the Bernard Haitinkzaal of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. We also hoped that all conservatorium students from Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Tilburg, Maastricht, Zwolle and Groningen, could be there because that is one of the best parts of the day, since the first Focus Day in 2016: the meeting and exchange of so many young percussionists from all over the Netherlands, with so many nationalities, together with the joy to play and be inspired.

But unfortunately, for various safety reasons, in consultation with all those involved, we have had to make the decision to go online again this year. This means that students from all the above-mentioned conservatoriums will attend the Focus Day from their own building. Alexandre Babel of Eklekto, Geneva Percussion Center,
the master of this day, will provide the program from the Bernard Haitinkzaal. The well-known jazz drummer, percussionist and multi-instrumentalist Han Bennink will also be performing his spectacular act directly from the Bernard Haitinkzaal at the end of the day.

Richard Jansen, study leader percussion and coordinator of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, will make this technically possible and coordinates the day from the Conservatorium. Our board member Herman Rieken will present the program.
