Save the date
The 7th Jan Pustjens Focus Day will be held on Sunday the 6th of February 2022, circumstances regarding Corona measures permitting, but so far it looks good, as the cultural life starts to get back to a somehow more normal situation.
It will take place in the Bernard Haitink room of the Amsterdam Conservatorium.
All conservatoria have already committed to join us that day. The master will be Alexandre Babel from Eklekto, Geneva Percission Center and another performance will be staged by the well known Han Bennink, jazz and multi percussionist.
Theme of the day will be “improvisation“ !
We invite everybody to attend and please note that more information regarding all details will be available by the end of October.
Jan Pustjens Focus Day 2022
If we read the newspapers, watch the news and follow social media, then we can come to only one conclusion, unfortunately these are uncertain times. Especially for the cultural sector! Performances have been cancelled and visitor numbers are low. Nevertheless, we remain optimistic, as this is the mindset of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
And good news, the 7th Jan Pustjens Focus Day is back on the agenda again in 2022:
Sunday 6 February 2022 in the Bernard Haitinkzaal of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam,
from 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM! The theme this time is “improvisation”.
Once again we think we will organize an interesting percussion day for you. Alexandre Babel van Eklekto,
Geneva Percussion Center, artistic director of this ensemble, will be the master this year.
The well-known jazz drummer, percussionist and multi-instrumentalist Han Bennink, together with all performers, will close the day - with a spectacular act.
We are proud that all Dutch conservatoires will again be present with of course an eager to learn enthusiastic group of young percussionists. Amsterdam will perform “Hart auf Hart” by Gerhard Staebler; The Hague will give us a composition by William Engelen to be determined; Rotterdam will perform “Fudõ” by Tchiki duo; Maastricht will play “Branches” by the well-known John Cage and Tilburg “More or Less” by Karlheinz Essl.
The participants from Groningen and Zwolle have yet to make their choice.
Admission to this annual event is again free. Everyone is welcome.
The artist foyer will be open and a relaxed atmosphere is guaranteed.
The now highly appreciated festive closing of the Jan Pustjens Focus Day on the evening itself cannot take place this year because, on the same evening, the Concertgebouworkest is organizing a commemorative concert in the main hall of the Concertgebouw on the occasion of the recent death of Bernard Haitink, who was principal conductor of the Concertgebouworkest for more than 25 years.
Our percussionists will be playing in this concert and the board must give an appearance.
We hope to see you all on 6 February and wish you a pleasant and above all a happy and safe holiday season.
The board of the Jan Pustjens Foundation
